About Eco-K9
Eco-K9 was inspired by my Yorkshire Terrier named Lucky. I liked the designs of some of the higher end dog clothes but often found the fabric too stiff and the construction poor. There was also very limited clothing options for male dogs.
So I started making his clothes. I'm an experienced sewer but I didn't have any appropriate fabric at home so I cut up an old sweater and worked on my first design for him. I realized that I had more options by cutting up old clothing vs buying new fabrics. I could also work some of the existing design features of each item into the dog's garment. And, I liked the idea of contributing back to the community by purchasing used clothing. I have now also sourced a distributor for high tech, outdoor fabrics so that my winter coats are especially warm for your dog.
I started making coats and gave them to friends with small dogs. My dog walker asked if I wanted to try selling one at her store. One day a customer of her's commented that my dog coat wouldn't fit her dog. The store gave her my number, she ordered a custom one and the rest is history!
